Royal Captive is the third book in the Fate of Eyrinthia series。 Every book has been so exciting with a plot that was shocking at every turn。 This new book is no different in that aspect。 All I can say is, hold onto your hats。 I also must warn readers that it is vital to have read the first two books before this new book。 There are so many characters from so many lands, and in varied situations, that you would be totally lost。 The great thing is that this is a wonderful series so reading all thr Royal Captive is the third book in the Fate of Eyrinthia series。 Every book has been so exciting with a plot that was shocking at every turn。 This new book is no different in that aspect。 All I can say is, hold onto your hats。 I also must warn readers that it is vital to have read the first two books before this new book。 There are so many characters from so many lands, and in varied situations, that you would be totally lost。 The great thing is that this is a wonderful series so reading all three books is a great enjoyment。 There are so many characters that I have grown to love in this series。 As readers understand more about their lives and backgrounds, it's truly hard to only have a few favorites。 I still love Clare so much and her fighting spirit。 Her bravery and concern for others make her stand out in this series。 I also still have a great love for Bennick。 Prince Grayson is strong as he's in a new situation and finding his way with new people in a new setting。 Oh, how my heart hurts for him。 Mia has also stolen a part of my heart with the hard life she's lived。 On the other hand, there are so many villains and people hiding in the gray area, that the themes of "Good vs。 Evil" are very real in Royal Captive。 This book is not for young readers。 In fact, the violence has increased in this book, but the stakes are even higher so it makes sense。 There is so much angst in this book it actually made my stomach hurt at times。 As for the ending of this book? Call me gobsmacked because I didn't see "that" coming! Why? Well, Author Heather Frost knows how to make us come back for more, and I will be waiting anxiously to see how all of this turns out in book four。 。。。more

Wow。 Just。。。wow。 Let me start off by saying that this book is not a stand alone。 You definitely need to read the other books in this series before this one so you know what's going on。 And even if you have read them, you might want to refresh your memory, otherwise you might feel a bit lost for a bit like I did。 But I highly recommend reading this story。 It's a long one, but it is so full of action, intrigue, adventure, and yes even some romance, that it's hard to put down。 I know it's a good st Wow。 Just。。。wow。 Let me start off by saying that this book is not a stand alone。 You definitely need to read the other books in this series before this one so you know what's going on。 And even if you have read them, you might want to refresh your memory, otherwise you might feel a bit lost for a bit like I did。 But I highly recommend reading this story。 It's a long one, but it is so full of action, intrigue, adventure, and yes even some romance, that it's hard to put down。 I know it's a good story when I keep thinking about the characters even when I'm not reading it。 We get to know Princess Imara,Tyrel, and Liam quite a bit better in this story, along with plenty of time spent with the usual characters from the other books。 If there wasn't so much death and destruction in Eyrinthia, I'd almost like to go visit some of these people。 Just some of them though。 There are some seriously evil people in this story。 This story does end on a cliffhanger, so just be prepared for that。 I am anxiously awaiting book #4, and can't wait until it comes out。 Definitely a series I highly recommend。 。。。more

I wish more people were reading and talking about it。 Heather Frost does just as fantastic a job with the world as she does with the characters。 I felt the complex pull and tug of the different kingdoms。 I felt all of their desperation, and saw their different motivations, all the while the whole world sits poised at the edge of war。 Royal Spy left off at a terribly cruel point, and to say I was desperate for book three is not an exaggeration。 After the last ending, we now know that we are in for a whirlwind of a ride。 Royal Captive picks up right where book two left off, and I was immediately sucked into the story。 The stakes are high and there are a ton of players in this complex world。 I love that we get to see this story through different kingdoms in this world。 We get to see old characters and meet new ones。 I won't say too much because I don't want to spoil anything, but this is a series that needs to be read in order。 What I love so much about Fate of Eyrinthia series is that the world continues to expand and grow in each installment and we get to learn more about the various lands and cultures。 Heather Frost can write complex characters like nobody's business! She is as masterful at creating fully fleshed out multidimensional characters that will make you think and make you feel for them, as she is at creating a vast world with plotlines weaving all over the place。 I am supremely impressed with her worldbuilding and writing with this series。 There are so many interwoven plot and story lines with so many twists, turns, betrayals and secrets to uncover that I couldn't stop reading。 I did not want this book to be over, not only because the ending kind of killed me, but also because I want the fourth book in the series right this very moment。 The Fate of Eyrinthia series is a hidden gem that I want to shout from the rooftops that more people should read。 If you are a fan of fantasy, this is a series that you need in your life。 I love it so much! This series is perfect for fans of Sarah J。 Maas。 。。。more

I was eagerly anticipating the release of Royal Captive。 This series has been such a well written and engaging journey so far。 Royal Captive picks up right where book 2 left us (thank goodness because that cliffhanger was a killer), and the story takes off with plenty of action, romance, revelations and twists as we delve into the lives of our much adored main characters。 More details below with a maybe a few spoilers?? so BEWARE:Clare is still vibrant and strong as ever。 But in this book she ha I was eagerly anticipating the release of Royal Captive。 This series has been such a well written and engaging journey so far。 Royal Captive picks up right where book 2 left us (thank goodness because that cliffhanger was a killer), and the story takes off with plenty of action, romance, revelations and twists as we delve into the lives of our much adored main characters。 More details below with a maybe a few spoilers?? so BEWARE:Clare is still vibrant and strong as ever。 But in this book she has to face some heart-rending tragedies that have taken their toll。 I knew she would overcome her challenges, but I’m glad the author didn’t just brush everything under the rug。 Clare has some PTSD which is totally NORMAL after the ordeals she has endured, which I kinda liked (not that I want anyone to ever have to deal with PTSD!!) BUT there were times in the earlier books when Clare felt a little too Mary Sue。 A little too perfect。 Now, as I see some of her cracks showing it draws me into her character more (I don’t know why I love flawed characters so much, but I do)。 With so many other character POV’s being introduced Clare feels less of a main character now, but I don’t feel deprived because I have loved getting to know the other players。 Grayson is still my favorite of all time。 Although, his brother Tyrell is intriguing me too! Those poor boys and their tragic upbringing -it’s delicious for me as a reader (in real life it would be awful!!)。 UGH! When will Grayson ever get a break? The choices this boy had to make tore me in two。 I love how REAL he is。 He doesn’t try to be someone he isn’t。 He isn’t looking for approval from anyone (except maybe Mia) and I love that。 He’s brash, harsh and tough。 And under that rough exterior is a selfless center that tugs at my heart。 And not to mention when he fights it’s AMAZING!Serene was a new POV in this book。 I was suspecting we’d get her POV in this one。 I like Serene, but I’m still trying to maker her out。 She is loyal to her kingdom and willing to sacrifice herself for what she believes is a greater good。 I wasn’t drawn into her story as much as some of the others, but she has potential。Mia was another new POV。 I wasn’t sure if she would get the spotlight or not in book 3。 But I ended up really enjoying reading her POV。 At first, in book one, I thought Mia was just a foil character to show us a different side to Grayson。 But soon, I came to realize she is a much bigger component in the plot。 For most of the story in book three we see her interactions with Grayson’s brother。 Tyrell isn’t what I had initially expected and I like that I was taken by surprise with him。 I can tell Mia has a fire in her and I’d like to see more of that in the books to come。 And I’m totally curious to see how the two brothers deal with being in love with the same girl。Wilf gets some airtime here! The big, intimidating bodyguard who is so handy to have around in a fight! Thank goodness he is so hard to kill because otherwise many of our key players would be dead right now!If you’ve gotten this far in my review but haven’t read the books you may want to stop because I’m about to reveal what happens to Bennick…。Our Royal Decoy bodyguard is still alive! How he managed to survive that stab wound would be anyone’s guess。 Maybe true love helped him out in that situation - it’s like The Princess Bride and true love gave him the strength to survive! But he is one determined young man! Determined to find and be with Clare。 That’s true devotion。Desfan! NO, I didn’t forget our trouble-making, Prince Charming - or should I say serjah charming (but that doesn’t have the same “ring” to it)。 He doesn’t make too much trouble in this one - it’s more that he find’s himself amongst the mess。 I really enjoyed seeing his character growth in this installment。 He is maturing into his role as ruler, with his faithful and attentive guard by his side。 I really really want a HEA for Desfan and I wasn’t sure if he would find it with Serene (that’d be an interesting development) or with someone else…ahem, perhaps another princess?? Anyway, I look forward to more of his story in books to come。 Heather Frost’s writing feels effortless and is wonderfully flawless。 It’s so easy to get sucked into the fictional characters and imaginary world she has created。 Her ability to juggle so many different characters and storylines while also giving the reader just enough detail to enrich the scenes without bogging down the flow is what makes her an author I’ll turn to again and again。 If you love Royal Captive you might also enjoy:Falling Kingdoms by Morgan RhodesDark Shores by Danielle L。 JensenWe Hunt the Flame by Hafsah FaizalForest of Firelight by Shari L。 TapscottSora’s Quest by T。L。 S>Stay Fetters

The complex and loveable characters, the twisty and action-packed plot, the unique and unpredictable story。 There are so many things going right in this series, and I'm so glad I started it last year!Plot - The storyline and writing style of this story are so compelling and make these books impossible to put down! From the first book, I knew I wanted to know more, more about these characters, more about their stories and how things would turn out, more about these lands and kingdoms and their cultures。 These things only grow more detailed and vivid as this series unfolds, and this latest installment demonstrates just how intricate and amazing this series is woven together! Each POV, each scene, and plot line, and each new twist。 Each part works together beautifully, and I loved everything about this book! While as I mentioned, this one is an intense read, there are several beautiful scenes of friendship, forgiveness, healing, and other such scenes that make this story feel more realistic, and I loved all these little messages, reminders, and the symbolism in the small things。 Whether it's a gifted bracelet, or a pebble necklace, a lesson that is remembered just in time to to save one's life, or a treasured memory locked away that is triggered unexpectedly just when it's needed。 So many little things, any yet they make this story all the more special and I loved how they play together, those little hints that lead to a glimpse of a deeper picture of the lives of each of these characters。Settings - I also really enjoy seeing the different kingdoms and towns in this series。 We see a bit in the first book, and get a little better glimpse some of the other kingdoms in the sequel and in this third book。 I loved seeing a little more of the cultures and the celebrations and traditions of Mortise in this one! I also liked seeing a bit more of Ryden & of the Kaelin castle, plus a few of the smaller towns outside of Duvan。The cultures and settings in this story are so vibrant! I love seeing each new place, and seeing how their kingdoms run and how their people live! (I'm hoping to see Zennor soon, but I'm so happy with how this story plays out and I loved seeing the different settings in this one as well!)Characters - Hmm, I won't go into details, as I don't want to risk giving anything away, and so much happens in this one! That said, I loved the characters in this one! I enjoyed the new faces, loved seeing more of some of my favorites, and I found it amusing to get to see more of some of the other more。。。difficult characters as they added their own flare and deceptions to the story! This one is deliciously filled with all the feels, and plenty of betrayal, tricks, unexpected twists, and so many pleasant surprises! I adored seeing some of my previous prediction come true, seeing a few dissolve, and making so many new ones as I read! I also loved seeing all the funny 'meet-cute' type scenes and seeing Desfan finally get to meet the other royals and seeing Prince Grayson fumble his way through Mortise customs and attempting to be pleasant company in this new land with strangers from all walk of life。 (Really, it's adorable to watch/read!)This will remain one of my favorite reads this year, and is definitely one on my all time favorites! 。。。more

This series is one that after you finish reading you are left in with a book hangover。 To the point it's hard to pickup another book, because you still feel like you're with these characters!Frost's pen is magical and her stories surround me in a way that I feel like I am inside the book, surrounded by the characters and scenery and am a part of the story。 So every time a book in this series ends, I am left feeling lost and just want to go back home to Erynthia so I know what is happening to these characters whom I love so entirely。I will not put spoilers, so I will be vague with what I say because SO MANY questions are answered and just as many puzzling pieces are added, creating more questions。 I am a bit long-winded when I review this series, so bare with me。Let's start with the star of the cover, Mia。 She's been captive in her Ryden cell for 9 years。 Her friendship and love for Grayson growing with each year that passes。 I have often wondered if she remembers who she is or if her memory had been suppressed for so long that she had no clue。 I also formed my guess as to who she was and I won't say what my guess was or if I was even right, but I will say a lot is answered about Mia! What also captivates me about her story is the triangle she has found herself in。 Two Ryden princes, raised to be evil and to not think twice about destroying whoever and whatever is around them and this girl has melted the ice from both their hearts。 I love who she helps Grayson to be and how much she has helped Tyrell's heart feel for probably the first time in his life。 Because of Mia, I absolutely love both of these princes。 Grayson - I am still team Grayson because that boy is an absolute hero! He is the one character that brings tears to my eyes because of how much he can love and how much he protects Mia。 I am in absolute awe of what he puts himself through, and all for her。 I must say, I do love him! Grayson is put through so many struggles in this book and watching him fight to be someone better than what his beginnings gave him were one of my favorite parts of this book。 Bennick is my book boyfriend, but Grayson was THE star of this book and I was thrilled to see it because he deserves it!Tyrell - My heart aches for him, because he finally understands love, but the person who showed him how to love is emotionally unavailable to him because her heart belongs to his brother。 Though I do think Mia loves Tyrell, I believe it is in more of a sisterly way。 She does care about him。 One of my biggest hopes is that Tyrell finds happiness, he proves that you can overcome your past and what others may have molded you to be。 I can honestly say I am attached to this character。Desfan - Who doesn't love this mischievous serjan? He was an instant hit with myself and so many others in Royal Spy and he continued to make me smile in this book。 Along with his side kick and best friend he once again finds himself scoffing in the face of danger。 He seems so unconcerned for his own safety because he worries more about his kingdom and the people he is there to serve and protect。 This makes him a very swoon worthy character。 His kingdom was turned upside down in Royal Spy and Royal Captive we find him trying to rebuild his court, get to know his betrothed, Serene, search for ghosts, make friends with the most surprising people and begin to fall in love。 I can't wait to see where book 4 takes him!Serene and Imara: I found Serene's widow braid story to be one of my favorite parts of Royal Spy and we find out why she wears it in this book and I must say it both thrilled my heart and made it break all at the same time! Her cousin Imara was a breath of fresh air in the last book and is even more captivating in this one。 I can't wait to see what happens to these cousins in the future。 I hope they both get the love they deserve。Clare - She is a scrappy one determined to prove herself and that she does! Without Clare, so many characters wouldn't have made it past the first book。 Because of this she reminds a bit of Hermione in the HP series because we all know Harry and Ron wouldn't have gotten as far as they did without her! Instead of relying on books, Clare relies on her instincts and training which get her through some of the most excruciating times。 The worst being watching Bennick get run through with a sword and having to carry that with her。 Where she found her strength to keep going is a mystery but I am in awe of her。Bennick - I see him so clearly in my mind and this man still makes my heart beat fast! When that sword went through him I died。 Frost has written these characters so well, that I felt empty inside and literally grieved him。 Bennick forever!Venn & Vera - Their love was strong in previous books, but feeling their heartache for each other in this book I feel cemented that feeling for not only the readers but for the characters as well。 Many questions surround this couple and I can't wait until the next book to see what happens!Frost has written another spectacular book and I am forever her fan! 。。。more

Woah!!! I honestly don’t have words right now。 I can’t believe I actually was able to finish this because it was SOOO intense and my anxiety was bouncing off the wazoo。 🙈 The thing about Heather Frost is that she writes stories that are unexpected。 In no way can you guess what’s going to happen next。 Throughout the series, I’ve become invested in the characters and what’s going to happen next。 I haven’t really watched Game of Thrones, but I’ve heard about the plot。 This gives me GoT vibes—toned Woah!!! There are evil kings, betrayal, death, torture, and so many other things。 But there was also love and I’m a sucker for love。 I’m Team Bennick and Clare all the way。 There are a bunch of other romances that were introduced in this one and I am here for it。 If you’re one who doesn’t love intimate scenes, don’t worry。 There’s none of that in here。 Only sweet kisses。 This book was a bit darker than her other ones (or maybe it was my mood)。 🤷🏼♀️ I loved it。 I just wouldn’t let my nieces read it…yet。 If you’ve been looking for a series that’s more action-packed, this is for you。 。。。more
